During the construction phase of anaerobic digestion plants, but also during operation and retrofitting, safe access to the inside of the tank via a manhole must be ensured. The entry and exit of people, material and equipment through the side walls is necessary. The side chute ensures quick opening and closing of the chute lid by means of a spindle lock and additional sealing on the inside by liquid pressure. The inside is curved to ensure that no mud particles or other solids stick to it.

Our side shafts are made of stainless steel 1.4571 and are suitable for hydrostatic pressure up to 4 bar.

Features

  • Easy opening and closing due to screw spindle closure
  • Pressure range up to approx. 4 bar
  • Temperature range up to 100° C
  • Perfect sealing
  • The lid is hinged, it does not need to be removed
  • Completely in stainless steel 1.4571
  • Made in Austria

Application and specifications

  • Side entry and exit into storage tanks, pits, towers, other concrete structures
  • For material entries or plunger inserts we recommend diameters > 800 mm
  • Completely in stainless steel 1.4571
  • Screw spindle closure – easy to use
  • Hydrostatic pressures up to 4 bar

Manhole opening laterally outward

The side chute ensures easy and quick opening and closing of the chute lid by means of a handle. Its curved inner surface prevents slurry particles or other solids from settling on it. The side shafts are available with clear diameters from 606 mm -1274 mm. The frame length is individually adjustable.

Manhole roof

A sufficiently large and easy to open/close opening is required for performing repair and inspection work and for transporting bulky equipment into and out of aerobic digesters. The roof shaft is a robust and cost-effective shaft construction for this purpose. Our roof shaft is available in four different standard diameters – also in special sizes according to customer requirements. As a rule, stainless steel 1.4571 is used as the material for the roof shafts, and NBR round cord is used as the seal.
